Following Zlatan Ibrahimovic's goalscoring heroics in Sunday's EFL Cup final for Manchester United against Southampton, the race for the player of the season award has heated up. Plenty of big names have performed superbly for their teams this season, including the likes of N'Golo Kante, Harry Kane, Diego Costa and Cesar Azpilicueta. But who do you think should be player of the season?

Manchester United's Zlatan Ibrahimovic is in contention to win the Player of the Year award
Manchester United against Southampton, the race for the player of the season award has heated up.
Plenty of big names have performed superbly for their teams this season, including the likes of N'Golo Kante, Harry Kane, Diego Costa and Cesar Azpilicueta.

The ever reliant N'Golo Kante has been in formidable form for Chelsea so far this season
3.
28-year-old Chelsea striker Diego Costa is an animal with the touch of an artist
Diego Costa: It would be one of the most controversial ever, but Luis Suarez won the award. Costa's ability to lead the line and give a defender his most uncomfortable afternoon is brilliant.
Come on, you'd want him in your team. He's an animal with the touch of an artist. Take your emotion out of it and he is the stand out player so far this season.
4.
Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta remains infallible at the heart of the defence
Cesar Azpilicueta: Another new position — but Azpilicueta remains infallible. Antonio Conte says he is now ‘one of the best in the world’ playing at left centre back and the Spaniard is the only man to play every minute for the league leaders.
Deserves additional credit for being one of a select few among his team-mates not to shame themselves with a significant dip last season, too.
5.
Harry Kane is a relentless goal machine that has helped transform Tottenham
Harry Kane: A fabulous hat-trick against Stoke was his second in eight days; his third in nine games. Kane is a relentless goal machine who has transformed Tottenham into a team capable of challenging regularly for the Champions League.
Perhaps they might have been closer to Chelsea at the top of the Premier League had he not missed two months of the season with an ankle injury. In the Premier League this season, he has 17 goals in 21 appearances. And is the perfect example to all young players trying to make the leap from Academy football.
